Marc and Jennifer had never been to Durango, but their research for the most desirable places to live within driving distance from Phoenix led them right to Durango. Checking in with Alix Kogan about location ideas, they quickly landed a lot and within days, had signed the contract with Kogan Builders to design and build their home. That was May 2014.
Marc and Jennifer wanted a home that reflected their contemporary style, while embracing the vernacular of mountain living. Jennifer and Marc were clients that knew what they wanted from the beginning. Design decisions were easy even though they were hundreds of miles away. They used our online project management system streamlining communication between the designers and project manager. This translated to efficient scheduling and ease of selections. As a result, they only felt it necessary to visit the building site twice during the entire construction of the house.
The site is nestled on a hill in a lush aspen forest with views that capture the distance peaks. 2500 square feet on two levels, a spacious, open floor plan, clean lines and metal trusses create this contemporary retreat. Athletes to the core, a major component of the design was their work-out room on the bottom level. The personal gym is the room where they spend countless hours and, according to Jennifer, “we could have made it bigger!”
With family on the way for the Christmas holidays, construction completion and move-in date was tight. Happily, Christmas was celebrated in their finished Twilight Contemporary home. No one can say it better about the design process, the craftsmanship in their home and the work of the Kogan team than Marc and Jennifer. Their Short Video Story
